Today, I'd like to share a website with y'all that is near and dear to my heart. It's called NoiseTrade, and it's one of the coolest things I've ever discovered (thanks, Josiah Rice). Not only can you download great music, and books in both written and audio form, but it's completely legal and free. You don't have to pay any money (though there is the option to tip the artist for their work) and all they ask is that you provide your zip code and e-mail, so the artist can track the data of the people that like their stuff and add you to a mailing list if you're interested.
That's it. No other obligations. And completely free music and books. I have found so many of my favorite bands on this website. The first album I ever downloaded was The Collection's self-titled debut, and that was the beginning of a long history of getting fantastic music for free. So, if you love music and books, check this website out. If you are an author or a musician, you should totally consider putting up some of your work up on the website. It gets your name out there in such a powerful way and, in my opinion, is a much smarter idea at first than trying to sell it at a normal price. I'm much more apt to try any new art if it's free. And then I'll fall in love with the art and want to buy everything you've ever made.
So, go on! Get yourself some listening or reading material and enjoy the fact that an artist is giving it to you for free. I know I have.
