Wow, it's been a long time since I wrote anything on this blog. I apologize for that. I've been super busy and super productive, just not in ways that added to this blog. But that's okay--as I figure out life and start getting into a routine again with school and my new work situation and so on, things will start becoming more normal.
Where to begin? If you've been privy to my social media lately, I'm sure you've noticed that I've done a lot of video production work since May. That's basically been my main focus--filming and editing videos. And as a result, I've released some quality content that I'm really proud of. But that means that the other artistic endeavors I usually partake in have been on the backburner. This semester I've really been trying to delve back into music and writing and use the video production I'm obsessed with to augment those things and make them better.
The prime example of that has been Twitch, for me. If you've seen my social media, you almost had to have seen that I've been streaming a lot on Twitch lately. Not only has this given me a good way to do things like role-playing games and still feel sort of productive about it, but it's given me a great way to add another layer of productivity onto things that are already so--like writing, for example. I've started streaming my writing sessions, which not only motivates me to write a lot during that time period, but I've started being able to network with other writers through that, and that's always a good thing.
And yes, I'm still plugging along with my novel, though it's been a while since I've worked on it consistently. Luckily, one of my classes this semester is basically a course that involves me working on any project of my choosing and getting graded for consistency and quality, which has given me ample motivation to write. And so hopefully by the end of the year I'll have a first draft to work with. And more importantly, I'll be able to step away from it and work on something else, which is something I've been dying to do almost since I've started the project (such is the way my mind works). I'll probably start working on shorter works, like novellas and short stories.
Music is also something I'm hoping to get back into--I've written one song so far this semester, and have the workings of a few more churning around in my brain. Luckily, my job at my church now includes songwriting as part of the job description, if I get an idea for a song that might fit with one of topics coming up, so that should fuel the creative fire as well.
So, yeah, I've been doing lots of things, just maybe not as publicly as I tended to earlier in the life of this blog. But don't worry, I'm not getting ready of this website or its content. I just needed a bit of a break. I have to say: getting back into writing a post like this was fantastic for me. I loved the way my fingers have flown across the keyboard to pour out my thoughts. And I've missed that.
Here's to more content to come. Thanks for reading and being a part of my life.
