An Introduction
This is an introduction of sorts. The beginning of something—yet this beginning comes smack dab in the middle of an ongoing story. I’ve spent several long years producing content on the internet, and have seen quite a few projects to their completion, yet there always seems to be more that I want to do, and it always feels bigger and better than what I was doing before.
So we come to this, the blog. I started blogging back in 2013, back when Tumblr wasn’t yet quite the cesspool of degeneracy that it is today. Well, maybe it already was, but I didn’t know it yet, and was blissfully ignorant in my own little corner of it. A lot of it was microblogging, something I realized that I enjoyed quite a bit—it’s where my Twitter comes from, after all—and Tumblr had some cool features to make a snazzy-looking little space on the internet. In 2015, I wanted to go a bit farther—have a place to truly call my own, not just a page on someone else’s platform. That’s when I bought calebmpowers.com and subscribed to Squarespace to have a place to host that domain. I started blogging even more, writing up a post a day for a good chunk of time there, and at least sporadically blogging until about 2018. A lot of that time was biting off more than I could chew, or at least wanted to chew, and so I turned to Twitter and YouTube as my primary outlets.
This is certainly still the case, and I’m not leaving those places any time soon (at least until they kick us all off for being too based). And while I’ve resisted sometimes putting too much time into this website, I think it’s finally time to slowly start pointing people here again as my homebase for everything on the internet. That includes this blog.
I want to start writing again. That means blogging—about life, theology, art, and whatever else doesn’t fit into the other venues in which I make content—but it also means fiction, creative non-fiction, and generally stretching my English muscles a bit more than I have in the past.
You’ll find lots of cool things on this website, most of which are jumping off points to other spaces, but I wanted to return to blogging to have some sort of regular “home-base-update” system to get some of my biggest thoughts and ideas into writing and out to the public in a timely manner.
I don’t know what the schedule is going to be like yet—I’m deep in the middle of an audio project that is set to release in September that I’m going to be using most of my free time for—but at the very least I’m going to be dropping some fiction tomorrow to get the ball rolling.
Thanks for coming along with me and enjoying the stuff I put out there on the internet. I really enjoy making stuff for people to enjoy, and with Twitter, a YouTube channel, four podcasts, a Twitch channel, a Patreon, and a Discord, there’s a lot out there if you want to check out something you haven’t yet. Links abound on this website, so take a look around and see if there’s something that interests you.
Love you all, and I’ll see you tomorrow for the first real post. Here’s to another beginning—and hopefully, to another thing I can see come to life as an extension of what I do here on the internet.
